Redefining Our Relationship to Wellbeing

Hyzel (she, her) works for a non-profit that serves South East Asian women from immigrant, refugee, and visible minority families in Vancouver, Canada. She talks about how her identity as a South East Asian, Canadian woman, how her upbringing shapes her relationship to her well-being/self-care, and how this relates to the work that she does today.

“In the South Asian culture where there is that concept of, you know, self care somehow loosely.  But it’s, it’s kind of frowned upon. It’s kind of looked down upon. It’s something you do in secret, and don’t tell other people about it.” ~ Hyzel
